How To Plant Hop Plants: - Choose a location with at least 6 - 8 hours of direct sunlight and good drainage. - Provide twine for the hops to grow on. - Ensure vertical space as bines can stretch 25 feet or longer. - Prepare loose soil, remove debris and weeds, fertilize with bone or blood meal. - Create mounds about 3 feet apart for each rhizome. - If planting multiple varieties, keep them at least 5 feet apart. - Dig a 4 - inch hole, lay the rhizome horizontally with root side down. - Loosely pack soil, cover with straw or mulch, keep soil moist until vines sprout.
